#1 Perfectly Pleated
Melissa from Melly Sews
Hi, I’m Melissa from Melly Sews.

When I entered my camera bag in this contest on a whim, I never thought I’d 1)be invited to compete or 2) Make it to the finals! So thank you to everyone that helped me get here.
For this week’s entry I actually did a sewing project (even though I write a blog with “sews” in the title, none of my projects on here have been sewing, go figure!). This is a couture dress I’ve made for myself to wear to a wedding. The dress is my own design, with a fully boned bodice and underskirt to which the pleated fabric was attached, mostly with hand sewing to maintain maximum movement of the pleated fabric without the top falling down.

I really love the back detailing, and the texture of the fabric means it also hides my mom-tummy below the belted area -  which means I don’t have to wear spanx with it – score! If you want to see more, head over and visit me at Melly Sews.
I am blown away by this dress.  Not only does it look like hand pleated silk – a task within itself – but you added a fully boned bodice to keep it up AND hand stitched the fabric on.  I am so impressed.  This dress fits you fabulously Melissa, this is something to truly be proud of.  The dress tiers, the wavy back, the front arching bodice…I mean – WOW.
WOW!! This dress is AMAZING! My favorite part about it is that it’s your OWN design!! I bet you got TONS of compliments at the wedding that you wore this to. I LOVE it! The pleating on it is fabulous and I agree about the mom-tummy hiding waist band… it’s perfect! LOVE!

#2 Laundry Room Makeover
Emily from 52 Mantels
When we moved into our house, we didn’t do a thing to our laundry room other than hang a brown curtain (that once hung in the dining room- dreary!) in front of an alcove-turned-broom closet. That room has been in serious need of a face-lift since! A laundry room is the perfect place to experiment with things you might be nervous to do in other rooms. In this case, I’ve painted the cabinetry turquoise and painted an entire door with chalkboard paint! Throw in a  light-loving wall color and pops of orange {plus several other projects!} and I’ve got myself one fun, stylish and practical place to do laundry…all for under $50 {you’ll see a LOT more details at 52 Mantels!}!

This is just about the cutest makeover I have seen in a while.  I simply love the WASH letters on the wall – the colors you chose are fabulous – everything just pops.  And you only spent $50?  That is incredible!  You truly have a gift.  It looks like you spent much more.
Love the colors, love the artwork, love the hangers, love the chalkboard! You were super brave to paint your cabinets such a bold color… and it works!! GREAT job on this laundry room makeover. Money well spent!!
#3 $20 Bathroom Makeover
I’m so excited to be in the final week of the competition! It’s been such a great experience, and has truly made me think outside of the box!! This week I redid my bathroom for no more than $20.00!! Here is a list of the things I did: I painted the walls light grey, painted the base boards, framed the mirror with pallet wood, painted the grout (which makes it look like a whole new floor!!), made a shower curtain, made a towel rack with wood and spickets, spray painted frames for a gallery wall, painted an old shutter, made a monogram wreath with sheet music roses, and took out the old medicine cabinet and replaced it with a picture! Whew….it’s been a busy week!! I just want to say thank you all for the honor of competing with these awesome girls! I have much more to tell about this makeover! If you would like to know more, head over to I Know the Plans I Have for You! I’m not sure what I’ll do next week??? SLEEP!
Holy Smokes – you will indeed be sleeping this next week after this!  The work you did, I am amazed.  Great transformation, and you cant beat $20!  You even painted the grout, that alone must have made a huge difference!!!
I can’t believe this was done for only $20!! Amazing transformation! I am loving the over the toilet framed wreath. What a fun addition to a bathroom and I love the pop of orange! One of my most favorite things that you did was simply raise the shower curtain… what a difference! It makes the bathroom look double the size it was before!
